APRIL 2007 travels

The beginning of 2007 found us back at The Great Outdoors Resort in Titusville, FL.  Once again, Cathy worked at H&R Block, while Bill played house-husband and created our web page.  Once tax season was over, we were on the road once again.  After a visit with Cathy’s family outside Atlanta, we had planned on a leisurely drive back to Yellowstone.  But, as our good friend, Tim, puts it, we headed to Atlanta and then  popped up in South Dakota.  We must admit, once we left Douglasville, GA and were headed west on I20, we were on a mission to get west.

Our first “real” stop was in Badlands National Park, where we spent four days.  While there, we visited a new National Historic Site, Minuteman Missile Site.  We were able to tour an actual launch control center and missile silo site that were preserved for historical reasons after the Cold War.  We learned how close the world came to ending civilization as we know it.  Our tour guide was an actual launch control center commander.  We highly recommend this very informative (and free) tour.

From the Badlands, we meandered our way to Bozeman, MT, where we stocked up before heading into Yellowstone on May 2.  We will be working in Yellowstone through September.  Please visit our blog, Views from the Open Road, to keep up with the going-ons out here.
